Founded almost 1,000 years ago, the character of Marrakech remains quite unchanged, being hot, full of energy and somewhat African. It is quite far inland and is shielded by the Middle Atlas Mountains, sitting at the foot of Mount Tassemit (2,247m), next to the plains of Beni Amir. Visit the falls and gardens of Aïn Asserdoun. Depart to the Imperial City of Meknes, the city of olive groves founded by the Meknasa tribe, after whom it was named. Visit the Ismailian Capital, famous for its 40-Kilometre-long walls. Visit the Old Medina, Souqs and Moulay Ismail Mosque square with its old shrine. Continue to Rabat, the elegant and green administrative Capital of Morocco. One of Morocco’s imperial cities, known for its large avenues and green gardens. Modern Rabat is clean and open. It is surrounded by both old Muslim quarters as well as beautiful remains from all periods of Moroccan history.
